Christian Brockmeier (* 19. Dezember 1959 in

Nordhorn) is a german jazz pianist.


Brockmeier started playing the piano at the age

of five. After a period of basic classical

training first improvisations followed in 1971.

Since that he trained himself autodidactically in

the fields of jazz and rock/pop. He founded his first band in 1974. 1978 he won the second, 1979 the first price at the "Jugend jazzt" competition. Since 1980 Brockmeier works as a professional musician.

Since then he worked among others with Larry Coryell, Emily Remler, Carlo Mombelli, Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Mick Abrahams, Albie Donnelly, John C. Marshall, Ulla Meinecke, Silvia Droste, Helge Schneider, Lydie Auvray, Georg Ringsgwandl, Julian Dawson, Wolfgang Engstfeld, Reiner Winterschladen und Hartmut Kracht.

Apart from that he toured with Supersession, Klaus Lage und Chris Farlowe. He was founding member of the band Stoppok around the songwriter Stefan Stoppok and of the band Mickey's Monkey Party of drummer/singer Mickey Neher.

Together with Peter Eisold he founded the Timber Trio. He worked as well as lecturer, studio musician, ballet repetiteur and producer.

1985 Brockmeier retreated for two years and began working on an own style influenced by ethnical music from India and Africa. The main result of these efforts was his Solo–CD „Reflections“ and the project „Brockmeier‘s Welt“, in which he worked with among others shakuhachi, hurdy-gurdy, surdu, berimbao, bina and overtone singing. more >>
